She's kinda cute. Kinda. For a guy.

Julian breezes through. "Foley seen this yet?"

The glee in his voice is mildly disturbing.

Julian slumped back in his seat and snickered.

"Don't tell me you're a geek and watch mecha."

Sure Keller, and you don't get all defensive when you feel new writers are screwing with your Trekker canon.

"Let's just say we had something of a disaster last year and it's been rough. If you weren't part of that, it'd be pretty hard to understand."

"Everything here seems to be like that. Like a secret war with kids in the frontlines." Gabe attempted to be inscrutable, but failed. He didn't understand most of what went on around him in the school.

There may as well have been two worlds right there. Josh didn't want to talk about it whenever he came in after. Gabe could only tell that something had happened because his room mate wouldn't return for days at a time, sometimes coming back with a forgotten, unhealed wound that Josh'd clear up with a smile.

He traced the rim of his mug with his fingers. "I called them big robots, you said mecha, you big geek.

Julian grins, "Must be hanging out with Jones too much," and then feels the smile falter.

"What do you know?" He throws the question out there in case Gabe knows something, however small. The adults might not like the non-training kids knowing, but he was of the belief that it wasn't fair.

Sometimes he wonders if the grownups ever learned from the raid on the house last November.

Gabe looks up, startled, "Nothing much really." He runs his fingers through his hair, before admitting, "Nothing at all."
