Thankfully, weatherfront was very excited to have her work made into a podfic and I am extremely grateful to her for that, because it was the perfect story for me to try this out with. 'En Haut Et En Bas' is a really sensitive, emotional story that really kind of flowered in the telling of it. I was just so enthralled as I was reading and recording at the same time.
The most amazing thing (and I would like to listen to another reader's attempt at this prompt so that I can gauge this from the other side) is that, for the vast majority of this recording, barring a couple of tongue-twisters, that was the first time I had ever read those words. Anyone who listens to this podfic will be watching this story unfold at the same rate as I was. That just really touches me, for some reason.
I also found that not knowing what was coming next made the story affect me more. I've already mentioned this story is emotional - during parts of this recording, I am crying. No joke. I left it in, because I felt that rerecording it kind of defeated the purpose of this exercise. I really enjoyed this prompt and I would encourage any other podficcer to try it, because it really opened my eyes. Also, I had a sore throat, thus the quiet.
