Cristina sighed in annoyance as she stepped out of the Archfield Hotel elevator and onto the twenty-second floor. She paused for a second, took a calming breath and turned back and glared into the luxuriously adorned elevator, in which Meredith stood, sulking against the far wall.

“Meredith, I swear to god--” Cristina scolded at her person as she extended her hand out to her, “--come on. We’re not doing this again.”

“Can I just say, really quick before she calls security on us--” Meredith was cut off by her friend grabbing the sleeve of her sweater and dragging her out, but she continued talking as Cristina scanned the room doors, “--that this is really weird. I mean--it’s WEIRD. Technically, we’re not her friends. And she’s going to think we’re weird--not that she doesn’t think that already mind you--”

“Meredith!” Cristina said, dropping her arm and turning around sharply, “She was in my not-wedding. We’re friends. Alright? Just--shut up.”

“Cristina--” Meredith whined again but was cut short yet again as Cristina stopped in front of the door she’d been looking for. “Cristina--” She warned, foolishly thinking she could possibly stop her from taking out the keycard they stole and placing it into the door slot. “She’s going to have us committed. She’s our BOSS now, you remember that, right?” Meredith insisted, but her demands went unnoticed.

“Meredith, shut up.” Cristina tossed over her shoulder before slowly sliding the door open.

Callie opened her eyes under her comforter. She thought she’d heard her door open--but it was her imagination. It had to be. Who the hell--

“Callie!”

Was that Cristina Yang? What the hell was Cristina Yang doing in her hotel room? “Yang, what the hell are you doing in my hotel room!” She demanded as she shoved the blankets down and sat up.

“I told her not to come.” Meredith mumbled and she shrugged once Callie turned her head sharply to look at her.

“Am I--okay, I’m sorry, I’m feeling a little over the rainbow right now. What’s going on?” Callie glared at the annoying dark haired woman standing over her with her hands on her hips. “Yang!”

“We’re adopting you.” She answered almost immediately with that dead-non-impression face of hers.

Callie closed her eyes for a second and pressed her fingertips to her forehead. “Wait. You’re what?” As she looked over at Meredith for an answer, she took I the sight of her seemingly frail stature, hunched over in her cardigan, her hair up in a loose ponytail. “You’re adopting me?” She asked again and rolled her eyes as Meredith simply nodded as if it was the most natural thing in the world to say to a grown woman. “I am just--going to give you two minutes to explain, and then I’m going to whip out a gun. I swear.”

“We’re adopting you. What’s there to explain?” Cristina answered, obviously annoyed by Callie’s annoyance.

“I don’t need to be adopted!”

“Yes you do.”

“Why?” Callie sighed.

“Because--of--George and Izzie--and me and Burke, and Mere and--okay, who didn’t call that one…”

“Hey!” Meredith said, offended.

“--BUT, she’s devastated nonetheless and she’s doing the thing where she doesn’t brush her hair or--her teeth.”

“Ew.” Callie exclaimed.

“I brushed my teeth.” Meredith mumbled under her breath.

“And--you were in my not-wedding and you--took one for Meredith with the panties so--you’ve been adopted. So, shut up, and get up, because we’re going to work.” Cristina finished with a definitive nod and crossed her arms over her chest. “Get up.”

“I’m not getting up.” Callie said with a sarcastic laugh.

“The thing is, Cristina--” Meredith started, “--that, you don’t know how to grieve.”

“Hey! I grieved plenty! Let’s go cut!”

“If you would only EMBRACE the gloom, you wouldn’t feel the need to adopt people. Seriously. It’s freaking me out.”

“Meredith--” Cristina shook her head and then returned her attention to Callie, who had laid back down. “NO.” She grabbed hold of the blankets and pulled them completely off Callie. She stopped and glared down at her, “You’re fully dressed?”

“Yes! I’m fully dressed! I’m not you two! I have every intention of going to work--I just--have fifteen more minutes.” She said, sitting up again, taking back her blankets, “Plus, I don’t want to be adopted.”

“Well, tough!”

“Well, you can wait if you want but I’m not getting up for another thirteen minutes.”

Cristina’s jaw dropped along with her arms. “Unbelievable.” She said to Meredith, and they both turned toward the bed at the sound of the sheets shuffling.

Callie turned down one side of the bed without a word.

“What is that? What is she doing?” Cristina asked, her annoyance growing.

Meredith shrugged, “Thirteen more minutes.” Cristina gawked incuriously as Meredith crawled into bed next to Callie, “Nooo--get up…” her only response was Callie scooting over, leaving room for her between she and Callie. Cristina laughed and shook her head. “I don’t think so.”

Meredith lifted her head for a second and patted the mattress with a smirk, “Twelve more minutes, Cristina.”

Cristina, stared back, and finally took a breath and, resigned, crawled on the bed and flopped down between them, “Twelve more minutes. That’s it.” She grumbled, her face buried in a pillow.

Meredith reached over and patted her shoulder slightly, followed by Callie sitting up to place her red comforter over the three of them.

So, I'm trying something new. Let me know what you think!!
