Author's Note: I made this when I had trouble sleeping the other night. Excuse me for the corny title, but I just couldn't resist.
For those who are waiting for a seventh chapter of Times Like These, I promise you, it's coming. I am in the middle of writing it and then I have to send it to my beta, so you can expect it the end of this week or maybe next week.

Sleepless in Seattle

#1
Ever since she was a little girl Calliope Iphegenia Torres tossed and turned in her sleep. Every single morning she would wake up with her pillow thrown aside, her stuffed animal under her bed or the covers turned upside down. Nothing her parents did helped. Her father would sleep in the chair beside her bed; it didn’t help. Her mother would check in every few hours each night; it didn’t help. They even put her little sister Aria in the bed with her; nothing helped. Luckily, Calliope was a deep and fast sleeper so she wasn’t deprived of any sleep. Then, at one point in her thirties, the tossing and turning stopped. It would still occur some nights, but is was gone other nights. Somehow, whenever the shorter, lean blonde called Arizona Amelia Robbins laid beside her, she slept peacefully.

Whenever my mother or something father would snore at night when I was a kid, I would take my pillow and grudgingly put it over my head. The loud, returning sounds annoyed me like nothing had ever bugged me before. Some nights, I would even get physically angry and I would start throwing things at the wall. Which shut them down for maybe a couple of minutes, but never long enough for me to fall asleep. Nope, I don’t like snoring people. I love my bed and I love to sleep and I am glad it;s something we need to do for a good third of the day. So when I found out my loving, super amazing girlfriend was a snorer, I was at a loss what to do. I couldn’t possibly continue this relationship, could I? There was no way I could use ear plugs because of the possibility of being paged and those nose plugs certainly don’t help, I’ve tried those on my family years ago. But to my surprise the snoring didn’t bother me. The short, vibrant snores of the tiny person don’t keep me awake at night. They simply remind me of how lucky I am that she is in fact lying here next to me, breathing in and out. They make me grateful that she exists.

I love my girlfriend and there are many reasons why. Here are a few of them. I am not a morning person, at all. I rather sleep until I feel fully rested, which usually isn’t until noon. No matter if the sun has risen or not. Arizona however, is pretty much the definition of a morning person. Generally she wakes up at six AM, sometimes at five, rarely at seven. In the months we have been together I’ve only seen her wake up after eight twice. That is, of course, only if she hasn’t been paged in the middle of the night. Anyway, there are a few things she does while I am still sleeping. One. She gets up and makes herself some orange juice. That’s right, juice. Not even coffee. Two. She puts on trainers and goes running for over thirty minutes. Once I have made the mistake to join her. Damn, that woman is fast. However, when she comes home she makes me a mug of coffee, which she tactfully places on the nightstand before she takes a shower. Those are number three and four combined. This way, the aroma fills the room and I awake slowly. That is, if I am too much in a coma sleep to notice her in a tight top and shorts all sweaty and hepped up on adrenaline. No, in that case there is only one thing my mind is set to do and I can tell you that isn’t sleeping. Yes, I surely do love my girlfriend.
