Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 If the link to part 4 isn't working for some of you, here is the link to my journal where I posted it:
http://mak62184.livejournal.com/9028.html A/N: Finally, I have part 5 written. I know I have been pretty consistant with updating the story quickly. However, with Christmas just 6 days away, I might have to put the next part on hiatus for just a little. I still have 2 fan fictions for gift exchanges on LJ to write, plus I have the scavenger hunt to complete, and a few things in my personal life. So, I'm not abandoning the story, but I just might need time away from writing it.
Part 5
Arizona quickly pulled Callie’s blanket down and started covering herself up while getting up from the bed. She handed Callie her T-shirt and bra from the floor.
"You two can’t hide it anymore." Kerry said. "We all know what you were doing under there."
"Fine, you caught us," Arizona said as she pulled on some clothing. "Please don’t be mad."
"We’re not mad," Casey said. "Actually, we’re excited. We knew you two belonged together the moment Callie told off Brenda. Before that, actually because she couldn’t stop staring at you."
Callie blushed. "That’s not true. I’ve always thought you were nice, Arizona. But, Brenda would not allow me to be nice."
"Well, I have to confess something to you, Callie." Arizona said. "I saw you at school on 8th grade move up day in 10th grade, and I had my eyes on you then. I pointed you out to my friend Julie, who was your senior tour guide, and she told me you were only in 8th grade at the time. I was embarrassed because I thought you were in 9th and new to the school."
Callie started laughing. "That’s quite a long time to keep lusting over me."
"Yeah, but I had faith that it would be worth it some day, and I was right." Arizona leaned in to kiss Callie in front of everyone.
"Okay, you two clearly need to find somewhere to go and have your sexy time." Kerry said. "It’s sweet, but we don’t need to watch you two doing it."
"Okay," Callie said. She picked Arizona up and threw her back in her bed. She then turned out the lights in the cabin.
"There. Cover your eyes and get some ear plugs if you are really that concerned." With that, everyone threw their pillows at the two of them. Callie just lay there laughing, as she kissed Arizona’s belly button.
By week’s end, Callie and Arizona had gotten quite close. They were almost inseparable. While watching a movie with a group in the dining hall one evening after practice, Arizona lay down in Callie’s lap, as she rubbed her shoulders. They switched sleeping between their beds. Band camp ended, and they went back to the school to get picked up, and to participate in the band’s preview show. Callie was very nervous for it being her first time performing publicly.
"You are going to do fine," Arizona reassured her. "If you mess up, it’s okay. That’s why we do these preview shows. Just keep count and keep moving." She gave Callie a reassuring kiss on her forehead.
Meanwhile, the cheerleaders were just coming out of the school from their own practice.
"Eww! Did she just kiss you, Callie?" Brenda sounded disgusted. "And that is why you should have stayed on the cheerleading squad. But, maybe if you are a lesbian, we are better off without you."
"Go away." Callie rudely told her.
"This is just the thing you don’t need to ruin your reputation anymore," Brenda threatened. "I feel I should tell everyone, but I’ll give you an ultimatum."
Arizona rolled her eyes. "Don’t do it," she whispered in Callie’s ear.
"What do you want, Brenda?" Callie asked, sounding annoyed.
"There is a guy I like. He is in college, but I’ve seen him working at the bowling alley this summer. He’s cute. His name is Mark."
"You mean my brother," Arizona mentioned, putting it into words that she hoped would gross Brenda out.
"I guess," Brenda answered as she rolled her eyes at Arizona. "Get me a date with him, and your secret is safe."
Arizona was not all for giving people she did not like what they wanted, but she gave in with the hopes that her brother could humiliate Brenda in some way.
"Fine," she said. "He should be coming to the band’s preview show. You can meet him then."
Instead of saying thank you, Brenda just walked off giving both Callie and Arizona a smirk of pleasure as she and the other girls walked away. However, Courtney stayed for a moment to talk to Callie.
"Well, secretly, I’m excited to see you guys perform. I miss having you at practice, Callie. It’s even more unbearable with Brenda and Taylor now."
"I miss you too. I’m actually surprised Brenda let you back on, after our little disagreement."
Courtney laughed. "Oh yeah. I think she only kept me on to deal with the freshmen. Secretly, I think she’s afraid that I could have potentially been asked to be a cheer captain this year. Of course, she made something up so I would definitely not get it or want to."
Callie frowned. "Of course she would get what she wants."
"Yeah," Courtney sighed. "So, are you two dating?" She asked of Callie and Arizona.
"What are you going to make us do if we tell you?" Callie asked, in a joking matter.
"You have to buy me lunch every day and pick up my trash afterwards," Courtney laughed.
"It’s a deal," Callie said, grabbing Courtney’s hand to shake on it.
A moment later, Arizona took Callie’s hands and smiled.
"So you are?" Courtney asked because of the hand gestures. Callie just stood looking at Arizona smiling.
"Well, congratulations you two. I’m very happy for you. Actually, Callie I had to ask you something. I’m having a pool party tomorrow afternoon. I want you to come. You can also bring Arizona and a couple of other friends if you like."
"Won’t that upset Brenda?" Callie asked.
"It definitely will, but I don’t care. And Callie, if your dad needs to call my parents to find out if they’ll be home and if there will be alcohol, let him."
Callie just smiled again. "Okay. Thank you. I’m sure we’ll have fun, if my dad lets me go."
Arizona was glad that Callie was talking to Courtney still, but she knew they had to get a move on.
"Come on, we need to warm up and get ready."
Callie knew Arizona was right. The two of them walked with Courtney over to the football field. Courtney joined Brenda and Taylor in the stands. Arizona could see her parents and brother sitting up there, as Callie could see her parents. Soon, they started the field show.
Callie was plenty nervous, but she forgot all about her nerves as soon as the music started. Callie transferred to her own world of concentration where nothing else mattered but finishing the routine cleanly. It went well. Every time there was an equipment change, Callie looked up to the stands to see her parents smiling, and Brenda and Taylor looking disgusted. Unfortunately, three quarters of the way through, something happened.
Callie could feel her wrist start to cramp and tighten up. She made all attempts to ignore it, but it didn’t help. She tossed her flag in the air and did not catch it. It was painful and risky to keep up with the routine. So, Callie made the decision to stop spinning and just finish as best as she could. At the end of the field show, the small crowd, mostly made up of parents and friends, went wild. Callie was ashamed of herself, but was glad she made it through her first performance. Off the field, her parents greeted her first.
"I messed up," was the first thing that came out of Callie’s mouth.
"It’s okay, Mija," her father said. "You’ll do better next time." Her father gave her a hug before getting called over by Courtney’s father, who came to pick her up from cheerleading practice. Arizona rushed over to her.
"I’m sorry I ruined the field show," Callie said. "My wrist started bothering me."
Arizona gave her a hug. "It’s okay. I sort of noticed you were just going through the motions of the show after awhile, which I am thankful you did. We’ll work on it more. But, good job for your first field show."
Callie smiled, until she saw Brenda and Taylor coming up to them.
"I knew you didn’t have it in you, Callie. It was funny when you dropped your flag a couple of times and just gave up. Maybe you aren’t good enough to be part of the loser squad either."
"Shut up," Arizona yelled. "Callie did fine, and she’s still getting over her wrist injury."
Brenda just sneered at her. "Oh yeah, I talked to your brother and he’s going with me to Courtney’s party tomorrow. And the best part is, you two losers weren’t invited." She walked off acting all high and mighty.
"Should we tell her?" Arizona asked, giggling a little.
"Nah, it’s too easy. And we should let it be a surprise tomorrow, if my dad lets me go."
"Calliope." Callie’s dad came up to her and Arizona. "I talked to Courtney’s father. Do you want to go to her party tomorrow?"
Callie smiled. "Yes, daddy. Thank you!" She gave him a huge hug. He walked away again.
"Call Kerry and Casey, and I’ll call Lauren." Callie said. "I’m going to introduce all of you to Courtney, and hopefully make Brenda’s life miserable."
Arizona just stood there smiling.
