Well this is the best and worst news we could get. The best cause we were right. Calzona were going to rise! And the worst cause now we might never see in happen.
And what does this mean for future sl for Arizona? Are they going full steam ahead in giving her a new lovelife or will they keep in mind that Callie may come back sometime and hold of on a serious relationship? It will be pretty difficult to create a believable storyline that will serve both purposes.

Why?
I think sometime Sara will come back (she said time off for now), we just don't know the time yet (but it won't be forever) & now we can be sure that when she will be back we will see a calzona reconciliation!

I always had a feeling that Shonda was being so "evil" about Calzona because one day they would be endgame. Thus being a hero for the Calzona fans. Now it's quite apparent that I was wrong & Sara's exit was ridiculously late. Calzona WAS supposed to get back together. I always had doubts as the show was going along, but I always felt by the time the show ended, they'd be endgame. Shonda has always said that. She always said trust the journey & always said they were MFEO. Sadly it couldn't happen because of Sara's departure. I actually love Shonda for at least addressing this & she sounded 100% genuine because it was in reply to fans asking her about Sara/Calzona. I also love that she's keeping her fingers crossed for them. It gives me a little more hope that Sara really could be back at some point.

Let's keep our fingers crossed as well. Her comment actually made my hope little stronger.

And for those who "knew" Shonda didn't plan Calzona to bring back together. That's the answer.

It's just sad that Callie had to leave & pick Penny by default. And now people are saying that Calzona's last scene had to be edited & Callie really did have something to say to Arizona instead of thank you. But it's very weird that Shonda found out about 3 days before we did.

Shonda used the word "proud" for Sara's break though, so whatever it is Shonda is happy for her & she wants Sara to come back. So whatever plan she had for Calzona that can still be incorporated with some modification may be in the future!

Well makes me feel better because I was always positive and trusted Shona's journey and looks like we were right that this was the beginning of a Calzona reunion.
Shona can't do anything about Sara needing her break.
The only thing now is fingers crossed that Sara will be back.
I think Shona will be in a dilemma now as to what to do with Arizona does she have her wait for Callie or move her on with someone new but then what does she do if Callie returns. Although of course Shona knows the reason why Sara needs her break so she will have an idea if she will be back and when it will likely be so I suppose what they do with Arizona will give us an idea.

Arizona waiting would do her a disservice, She said, lets all be happy. So I assume from that she'll move on, she's not going to wait 10 years in case Callie decides to break up with Penny.

No matter the circumstances of Sara's departure SL wise it comes down to the same thing, Callie left to go be with Penny. As far as Arizona is aware Callie's never coming back so she'll move on.

On the off chance that Callie comes back which might not be for a couple years or so, it wouldn't be her coming back to choose Arizona it would be because she broke up with Penny. So in the end Arizona still deserves better.

I agree with you that I don't want Arizona waiting around. Same applies to Arizona as it did to Meredith ( ... )

I've always said that IF Callie does the chasing and chooses Arizona and not because she doesn't want to be alone or because she's depressed or desperate but because she truly loves Arizona then I'd be happy for a Calzona reunion - IF Callie did the work ( ... )

I still don't trust as far as I can throw her. I don't think she's trolling per se, but she's putting a spin on a very difficult situation. She has to keep the Calzona fandom around somehow and what better way than to give us false hope. Of course she can say the plan was to reunite them. We can't ever hold her to it with SaRa gone. It's just a way to make herself look good and try to keep fans who have jumped ship because Shonda sank their ship for good.
Then again, I hope SaRa is just negotiating for a better contract so we can have calzona back.
I guess by Shonda saying the plan was to reunite Calzona also means no real storylines for Arizona.

If I had just read a statement, then I don't think I'd trust Shonda. I would feel like she was just trying to appease the fans. But actually seeing her say it not in some written statement made me feel like she was being honest. She seemed 100% genuine. Not to mention she didn't need to answer any questions about it. That's very unlike Shonda to me to tell the fans that she planned to have Calzona get back together. And she didn't just hint at it, she legit said it. I do believe she's a very big Calzona fan & Sara needing time off was just very unfortunate, not just for Calzona, but the way Callie had to go out like that. If Shonda really did find out only about 4 days ago, then it really did seem like she was taking Callie's character on her own little journey before getting them back together. There was a reason why Callie & Penny never came off as believable. Because it wasn't supposed to. Callie's not someone who's willing to spend any time away from her child & completely demote her career to follow a resident.

I'm not sure I believe Shonda. She has to smooth things over somehow for all the fans that are upset. Seems more like it might be personal why Sara left rather than anything else with that short amount of notice that she wasn't coming back which IMO is rather not cool. I mean shouldn't there be some sort of notice they have to give not just a couple days before hand, Oh right now I'm not coming back ( ... )
