A/N: I wrote this really fast, so I might have a million typos. After seeing the pic of the redhead UGH! I just had to do this.
Comments are more than welcomed
It had been 1 month after Arizona had gone to Africa. Callie was not in a good place but somehow Mark had convinced her to go with the rest of the attendings to Joe’s.
Mark was staring at a redhead at the bar and being the manwhore he is he went up to her.
“Hi” He sat down beside her. The redhead ignored Mark at first and he could feel it. He stretched out his hand to her.
“Mark Sloan, MD” He gave her a huge smile.
“Jane and before we continue, I want to be clear…you are not my type” She said and Mark actually felt both hurt and anger. Why did she think he was hitting on her? Wait. He was.
“How come I’m not your type? I’m everybody’s type” He said to her.
“Well not mine” With that she left him sitting at the bar alone.
Callie caught sight of what had happened and walked up to him. She gave him a squeeze on the shoulder.
“So Mark, how does it feel being rejected?” She smiled. Callie couldn’t help herself from gloating at the fact that Mark was dissed.
He turned around and looked Callie straight in the eye a bit pissed.
“She is gay” He said, Callie frowned at the comment.
“Did she say that or are you convinced that she is because she didn’t want you?” She laughed
“Yes! I mean no she didn't say it” Mark said. Callie looked at him sceptically and he saw that so he raised his voice. “Callie I promise you she is gay. You should go for it” He said knowing how hard it has been for Callie since Arizona left.
Callie looked at him annoyed.
“Mark…I can’t” She said sadly
“Callie…for all you know Arizona could be getting it on with a hot South African woman right now. She kissed you in a bar bathroom, how much do you really know about Arizona. Maybe she was my old self before I met Lexie” He paused. “Look I don’t want to be mean or anything, but Arizona is maybe having fun down in Africa. You should too, if not something serious you should at least get laid” Callie gave Mark an angry stare, but somehow he had gotten to her.
She didn’t know much about how Arizona was before and she did kiss her in a dirty bar bathroom. Callie shook her thoughts away.
“No, no Mark! I can’t, I don’t care what Arizona is doing…who she is doing or if she is doing something or someone. I can’t it’s too soon”
With that she walked away.
She got back to the table and continued the conversations with Bailey and the rest. Somehow the thoughts of Arizona and a hot Naomi Campbell look-alike were imprinted in her mind.
She looked over to the bar and caught a redhead staring at her intently. It was the same redhead that dissed Mark a few minutes ago. Callie felt herself blushing; the redhead gave her a nod. Callie knew right there that Mark was right about the girl being gay.
She thought that she couldn’t do anything, she still loves Arizona. After a while Callie needed another drink and everybody at the table were so drunk that they ignored Callie when she was asking them to go get her a drink.
She decided to go to the bar, ignore the redhead and just buy herself a drink.
“Hey Joe, two tequilas” She smiled at him.
“Hey Callie…um someone actually ordered you a drink” He said.
Callie knew where this was going, but she had to ask.
“Who did?” She asked him anxiously.
“The redhead over there” He nodded with his head.
“Crap” She murmured to herself “Thanks Joe”
When Callie turned around the redhead was standing behind her. Mere inches from Callie’s face.
“Hi..I’m Jane Swanson, you’re Dr. Calliope Torres right? The bone doctor?” She smiled
All Callie was thinking was that she was annoyed by two things. One: Only her dad and Arizona are allowed to call her Calliope. Two: Who the hell says bone doctor these days?
“I’m Callie Torres” She emphasized Callie “An orthopedic surgeon”
“Umm” The redhead got nervous “Sorry, I read Calliope in the medical journal, it must have been a typo.” She said and Callie felt proud somehow over the fact that the girl had read about her cartilage research.
“Yes, it must be it” Callie smiled, still annoyed but she couldn’t stay mad at a stranger.
“So this must sound really inappropriate, but I read about your research and it also had some information about some of your earlier surgeries. I read about an experimental surgery you did on a teenage boy. And from what I’ve heard you are one of the best. I was over at the hospital, but they said that you were here.“ She smiled shyly.
Callie had no idea where this was going, but she liked the fact that she was one of the best. Or in her own opinion THE best, a rockstar with a scalpel. She also remembered the case with the boy, she was working closely with Arizona then.
“Thanks” She replied.
“So I’m going to get right to it” The woman said and Callie just looked at her intently, this woman was forward Callie thought.
“Okay” She nodded for the woman to continue.
“I have the same tumor as that boy and I want you to take it out. I know this whole ambushing you at a bar is highly inappropriate, but I’ve travelled here from Texas and all I’m asking for is for you to take a look at my case” Jane said and Callie was stunned. Sure it was a bit inappropriate, but having a stalker was pretty cool. At least someone stalking you from Texas just for a surgery.
“Look..um Jane” She had trouble remembering her name “I can understand why you did this, at this point you probably would do anything to be cured. I’ll give you my number and you can call me tomorrow to set up an appointment. I’m working from 1 pm.”
Callie smiled at the girl and took a napkin to write down the number. She really didn’t have another choice.
“Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you. I really appreciate this and I’ll call you tomorrow” She gave Callie a bone crushing hug before walking out of Joe’s. Callie stood there stunned, before Mark came up to her.
“Good job Cal, but you should really have brought her home” He gave her a smug smile. He was right or at least he thought he was.
“Shut it Mark, the woman is sick and wanted me to be her doctor. Yes you heard me, she came from Texas and found me here. So I gave her my number...my work number. I trust Arizona even if she maybe doesn’t trust me completely. I’ll believe that she won’t sleep with someone down in Africa even if we aren't really together and I won’t sleep with anyone before my love for Arizona has vanished. Which I don’t think it’ll do. So I’ll just have to get comfortable living in celibacy.” With that she walked back to the table.
Mark stood there surprised. If the girl isn’t gay, why did she turn him down?
