I wonder at what average age women say their biological clocks are ticking. Technically, you should be pretty young (near when you reach sexual maturity). It's actually kind of bucking nature to not have children until one's 30s. Poor Callie.
I definitely hadn't thought that the fake lesbian business would offend Elyima, so my surprise there was quite genuine. I wonder if it really is a you have to have been there to understand the offense kind of thing? Nobody has ever questioned my sexuality so I don't understand how uncomfortable that might be. Or offensive. I don't know E's history, but maybe other comm members can weigh in>
And, um, I LOVE Dr. Suess. Was raised on the Suess (Green Eggs and Ham, Lorax, Oh the Places You'll Go...there was also one about the Circus McGurkis?). But coming out of Jackson's mouth? In that particular scenario. It was so much WTF-ery. Also, Mer is no Cindy Lou Who.
The fake lesbian comment... it is the only way that I can ever become annoyed because as a bisexual I get so many jokes about "pick a side already" "fencesitter" "greedy" etc. so it stings when either partner a male or female questions you in that way.
But come ON the way Callie opens that 'conversation' so sounds like a breakup; I probably would have gone into the defensive as well.
My feeling on the offensiveness of vacationing in lesbian land: I guess I feel that Callie has overcome a lot of stigma to be with Arizona, and she now considers that "who she is". She considers that they are stable. It's pretty demeaning when someone suggests that you've overcome all of that for something that you aren't that you may not be so devoted to. It was more of an attack of her character than her sexual identity to me I guess.
"Wild trajectory" is right. As is "hot mess." Oh, Mark. I mean, I'm glad the actor was finallly given something to do this season. Can't imagine what they'll get him up to next, though. I guess more Lexie-pining.
Callie's intro to the baby speech was indeed poor writing IMO. Only written as such to drive Arizona nuts, i.e. Vacationing in Lesbianland rant.
One of the first symptoms of the seeming lack of a single cogent voice writing with consistency and continuity in the arc of their split - as if the author of each episode was given latitude to impose their own perspective of character and communication.
Quite pointedly they have clarified and expressed their bond again and again - from girlfriends to committed adult loving relationship, their necklaces, and even the initial baby conversation was around the framework of amazing couple with a future filled with all of Callie's imagined regalia. I cannot imagine that Callie, transparent Callie who so obviously loves without quantification, would not express more than , "I really care about you" in this moment of greatest significance.
This is all paying the piper, I suppose for over scrupulous investment in Callie and Arizona. Writing breakdowns are rant inducing.
I always try and comment with some wise, insightful words... But I fear that I may have nothing truly insightful this week (as opposed to last week, when, I must point out because I literally "wooted" aloud when I heard, I was the one who said that some writers just shouldn't be allowed to write Arizona. lol)... Anyway, 6x18 was not one of my favorite episodes of the season. Mainly because I still feel like this issue wasn't given the proper attention it needed considering its deal-breaking potential (and later, reality
( ... )
It's nothing against the hairstyle in and of inself. More like, there's a place and a time for that particular hairstyle, and it's not exactly a mark of doctoral authority. Like Arizona, you work with kids. But unlike Arizona, you are not constantly trying to get parents to trust your opinion in life-threatening situations.
I would be totally satisfied if Mark upped his best friend game. I don't think they need to recast a BFF for her.
Your friend may very well know his/her stuff, but in the Grey's universe, Dan was a Captain. I know because I also was curious as to his ranking and I looked it up on the official episode credits.
Richard T. Jones ... Captain Dan
So.
I would agree with your 3B and think we'll get some insight next season, especially if we're introduced to her circle outside of the Grey's regulars - family, a person from her past...
Sara Gilbert is making a comeback in a major way. Go her! Also, she produces that new show. It's her baby. Most awesome, and it'll be interesting to see her on the show. She's going to bring the crunchy vegan lesbian mom perspective.
I don't think hairdos are necessary to gain a child's trust. But obviously there are two camps on this issue. It's not exactly my biggest beef with Grey's. Just something that irked me once.
I agree it seems like Arizona is protecting herself for a reason. I hope eventually we get to find how how and why she got hurt.
In Dars defense, she did mention Sara Gilbert's new show and gave an excellent rundown of it during our discussion, but I cut it for time...and because we really did go on for a long time about the awesomeness that is Sara Gilbert. I was trying to stay on topic, my bad.
I'm torn on this braid thing. I understand the function aspect, I really really do. I do the same thing when I need to get my hair out of the way, but I know the trade off is that adults aren't going to take me seriously at first glance. Maybe Arizona has just conquered that much better than I. I get that.
Thanks for listening and giving us such an organized perspective. I dig the numbered list cause I'm OCD like that ;)
Oh and was anyone else angry with Grey's ending the hand withdraw scene like that? I'm interested in what else was said. In later episodes they act like they haven't really talked about it... the poundcake thing and the moisturizer, so does it really just end there? Arizona leaves the room? I just don't see them talking about anything else after Callie says something like that.
Personally I think that that was one of the few nights Arizona spent in her own apartment. Because during the poundcake scene it seemed morning and they didn't come in together. So yeah, I think Arizona bolted the night before.
But then when Callie and Mark were talking, Callie made it sound like there'd been some avoid-y conversation prior to the poundcake so I don't know...Callie still had her coat on so she just came in. Maybe she went to take a shower to allow Arizona to collect her thoughts and when she came out Arizona started talking about nonsensical things before leaving altogether.
why would she go home that night but in 6x20 when they were fighting all day she goes to callies? sometimes this show makes no sense haha and yet im addicted haha

I still don't know exactly what Arizona mumbled.
