I don't like what you like

This is a mostly dead fandom livejournal with interludes of life. I'm keeping it up as a private archive of stuff I used to love and still love. I used to be someone else and now I'm still someone else, but with better hair. Still shaky on the time management stuff though.

one question: where do you find the TIME?! thats one heck of a list (i applaud u on the fact u actually REMEMBER all that stuff) AND it doesn't seem like u just skimmed thru, but METICULOUSLY analyzed everything and anything there is in each show (or gave up midway when it just happened to...SUCK)

what no one can ever phrase better than you did:
1) She was much much better in the Rose than she was in Hana Kimi
2) ...and Wu Zun is hot
3) truly lame peck Rain chastely presents Song Hye Kyo
4) LEE DONG GUN IS THE OTHER GUY. WHY IS HE THE OTHER GUY?
5) Favorite guilty pleasure: Arashi (ie, the Japanese Boy Band that ate my brain)

u know whats ironic? after all this, i actually want to (re)watch some of those disappointing shows. i feel messed up.

why does everything seem more interesting after snarkification?

See, I try to be objective and consider the situation some dramas are made under and then after all that and I still don't like it? I make fun of it. But I also make fun of the stuff I do like. But I give every drama at least 3 eps before I give up completely or I at least try and figure out the ending before quitting - I don't want to just blindly hate/dislike a show without trying, because even though I'm not really a critic, I have this weird thing about at least trying stuff before I say it sucks.

And I recognize that people don't have the same taste as I do - hell, I'm aware that the fandom seems to be really divided over the Japanese Hana Kimi and that some fans outright hate it - but I love it enough for 10 people, so you know, different strokes for different folks.

somehow the words "LEE DONG GUN IS THE OTHER GUY. WHY IS HE THE OTHER GUY?" have been echoing in my head, and i developed a theory about this (basically the result of having too much time on my hands ( ... )

I have nothing further to add.

See, with Jdramas, I'm honestly torn, whereas with twdramas and kdramas, I have an almost uncanny preference for the Other Guy, 90% of the time.

HYD, I Loved Hanazawa Rui above all others (except for Makino) despite my great and overflowing Matsujun love, and in HK - I love them both. I do love Shun a little bit more though.

Oh gosh, there was just so MUCH to take in. XD fickletastictot August 22 2007, 20:39:11 UTC
I realize now that your interests are very much like mine. It was quite alarming. :O From TV shows, manga and drama, I had some deja vu moment of my youth reading through both entries. The big differences between you and me is that 1) you've experienced more (some of the titles you've mentioned already going through are actually on my list to read/watch instead) because I am queen of procrastination, and 2) I got into really more embarrassing and time-wasting fandoms in my earlier years than you did.

I'm glad to have come across your LJ because it's as if you've said exactly what I was thinking but in a more articulate manner than I could ever hope to do.

Oh! I just happened to watch High School Musical 1 & 2 last Sunday on the Disney Channel. It made me giggle and kinda made me wish my past high school life was a musical. :(

awww. Well thank you for making it through the ginormous entry - and well yeah. I'm as old as the hills.....

;)

Here's a quote from Howl's Moving Castle, just because.

"But I'm not calm about it, if that's what you think!" Michael said. "If you knew the trouble we've had because Howl will just keep falling in love like this! We've had lawsuits, and suitors with swords, and mothers with rolling pins, and fathers and uncles with cudgels. And aunts. Aunts are terrible. They go for you with hat pins. But the worst is when the girl herself finds out where Howl lives and turns up at the door, crying and miserable. Howl goes out through the back door and Calcifer and I have to deal with them all."

Stand up!!!

Oh gosh, the series could shine so much brighter with a decent fansub group.

Everyone was perfect in their roles, I thought. Right up to the parents.

I was laughing in my computer chair the entire way.

[Would anyone here watch Mago Mago Arashi by any chance?]

I WOULD I WOULD. calledinvain August 27 2007, 06:53:32 UTC
Arashi's little experiments are hysterical, and it's always fun to watch a different side of them outside of their JE idol bubble.

Whee! (I'm not an Arashi fan, honest!) barbosa2007 August 27 2007, 13:09:07 UTC
Have you seen the episode where MatsuJun and Aiba take care of two kids whilst their parents go out for a movie?

MatsuJun runs off (rather hastily) to prepare dinner, leaving Aiba to "take care" of the kids (one screaming, the other not so). Oh Jun, you sadist!

Jun is Evil-Sama, which is why I ADORE HIM SO.

And really, if I was in the same situation, I'd run off to cook too.

Hope you don't mind if I friend... ^^; just wandered upon this lovely place and would love to squee over jdramas with you, especially, most recently, HanaKimi. *_* Though I've yet to watch the finale :O Also, your fic is most excellent! <3

I'm currently not watching any jdramas this fall season, but I have to finish recapping Hana Kimi (PLZ, Fuji TV, give me a follow up special to the finale!) but I'll definitely be posting more things about Maki, etc.

Which fic? :D

The Kurosagi one about Kurosaki and Tsurara's wedding :) Though the most recent HanaKimi one is quite cute as well ^___^

Bwah, I look forward to more HanaKimi posts.

Also, Maki Horikita may very possibly be the only person I've ever seen who could turn me lesbian XD She's sooo gorgeous *_*

I'd go gay for Maki. calledinvain October 23 2007, 02:01:12 UTC
Y'know, if she ever ventured into that territory. Ah, Kurosagi. I'll have to finish my other fic with Kurosaki/Tsurara...and sano/mizuki! *hearts my tall/shortie OTP*

She is so BEAUTIFUL, isn't she? It took me sort of by surprise - like, she was always pretty, but with the short hair and the new rocking fashion sense, it was just like.... O_________________O

In defense of ISWAK, I think the stars did a great job. It's not as easy as it looks for Ariel to act dumb (because contrary to popular belief, she's the exact opposite). Joe loves to joke in real life, so playing Zhi Shu was a little hard for him, too. Not a perfect plot, but it was based on the manga, so there wasn't much they could do about that. Please note that I am NOT, however, an Ariel/Joe fan. 0_0 For some time I had a severe allergy to anything Ariel and Joe-related, so I couldn't bring myself to watch They Kiss Again...ugh, I couldn't get anywhere near it. The bed scenes especially *rolls eyes*. But for me, that was mostly the fault of certain crazy-obsessive fans...enough said. So, it's not one of my favorite dramas, but I don't hate Ariel and Joe for it, because it really isn't their fault.

DBY...I agree that Rainie's cliche cutesiness and Ah Mong's bad-boy-ness (=P) got old. Bleh. I couldn't finish. Which is why I prefer Why Why Love.

Why Why Love? catslove17 May 3 2008, 23:45:47 UTC
Sure, I hate ISWAK with a passion, but I've watched the first season, up to ep 8 of the second (for the DANSON!! and Wang Zi) and seen all the anime episodes so far, so it keep on reeling me back. It's the only drama that does this.

Mike He always plays bad boys, less so in WWY but still. Now if he doesn't play one I don't think I'm getting my moneys worth. Rainie is yet to show us her great acting abilities, perhaps in her upcoming production Spider Lillies ...

it's better than DBY at least^^ starlitscribe May 4 2008, 00:07:39 UTC
(Great icon. ;-)

Anyway, I see what you mean about ISWAK...I just didn't want you to think that Ariel or Joe are like that in real life, or that they're limited to those types of roles.

Haha, yeah, Mike is the cliche bad boy. He maintains that stereotype in WWL, but Rainie's a little less cutesy and in general WWL is less...well, cheesy. (I haven't finished it yet, though, so I don't know how it ends.) Oh, and in Love Contract Mike wasn't a bad boy. =) If he played a bad boy *all* the time, it would get kind of old.

Yes, Rainie's skills haven't been tested much. Actually, I believe Spider Lilies is already out...I'll have to watch it one of these days~~
