it's a story.....

about a girl named Mizuki, and the very very lovely school she infiltrates! My (by now, redundant) screencap review of the premiere episode of Hanazakari no kimitach e. I took over 200 caps from it, but I'm picking and choosing for the review. ( warning: still image heavy )

hanazakari no kimitachi e, recap, jdrama, hana kimi

If she doesn't love you, I will. I mean, your grandmother died and I can see her spirit behind you, cheering you on. Yeah, yeah, that's it.

Genius! (y)(y)(y)
This series to me is all about that Nakatsu <-- Kayashima vibes. Mizuki? Sano? Who are they?
.....no, just kidding. But I seriously think the director has set Kayashima up as Nakatsu's second hope. Or not. But there is def. secret longing. In my brain, at least.

Also, thank you for mentioning Kazuma. I love Mizobata Junpei<3 He and Yusuke are BFF in real life. They just went yesterday to stalk see Shun's play. It was a date.

and I think about the manga as well - besides the romantic longing between Sano Mizuki and Nakatsu, there's also really great friendship nods to all the boys in the dorm, that you can tweak to your mind's desire. In the most recent VIZ translation, when Kayashima came out and covered Nakatsu with a blanket because he was outside mourning his love for Mizuki? I totally wibbled. I love their friendship in the manga, and I am really enjoying the subtext between everyone, really.

I haven't read any of the manga at all, but when I posted on ikemen_paradise about it before, basically everyone knocked down the idea that there's anything besides friendship between them. But I seriously argue this for the drama version. There's too many tiny things hinted at (at least from Kayashima's end). Er, yes, anyway... if there's also some hints in the manga, then that's nice!

Part of my problem is that I'm a huge Yamamoto Yusuke fan from before this drama, and I've read too many BL fanfics with him as a character to see his "aura" as anything but a "rainbow." (...)
