not quite 10 points out of ten - or 100 points out of 10, for that matter

I watched Jaejoong's cinematic film debut last night with kitsune714 chiming in ever so often, but it wasn't quite on par with our Koizora level snarkfest (though, how could anything be? Koizora can't be duplicated, not even Twilight fail comes close to it ( Read more... )

All the pretty. So pretty. But . . . there were lots of wtf? moments in there, too. Like in the very beginning, when JaeJun offered Hana his water bottle. What is that? And in the ending, when JaeJun and Hana reunited in the post office and were listing off all the places they've been together- did JaeJun remember Hana? Did he think it was just a dream? I HAVE NO IDEA.

But still- so pretty. And at the very least, at least we know JaeJoong's acting debut went better than Yunho's.

From what I gather of EK's work, when she gets a yen for an ikemen to star in a project, she tends to tailor the part for him, especially if he's fairly newbie - so it's like all the emo parts of Jaejoong that we hear about got to be put on display and I think he has potential, honestly. Just like I think Yunho tried too hard, too much for his debut, but if he backed off of it and took some lessons and some 2nd character roles, he could be suitable in a few years. Yeah, I think the wtf touches like the water bottle were EK's trying to bring whimsy into the script, but it didn't work exactly how she planned it.

But yes, this movie. Very, very pretty.
