Am watching Meteor Shower out of a morbid, horrible curiosity. Having passed on the opportunity to watch cat vomit Boys Over Flowers to kitsune714, I thought I'd take a look at Mainland China's attempt to beat the dead shojo horse of Hana Yori Dango a little more dead. The sad part? It was ridiculously popular in Southeast Asia and helped give a giant boost to the boyband that was called F4. Yes. Boyband.

This is a new show, from Mainland China, because Taiwan are the hedonistic infidels. I totally remember when Meteor Garden aired - they even played it in SoCal when I was a teenager, and I didn't watch it then. I saw a few episodes of it later, and hated it. It took Japan to make a Hana Yori Dango I could get on board with.

I thought there were enough Hana Yori Dango shows out there that one more wouldn't be needed, but I guess China decided to prove me wrong. Are you serious about Domyouji being a car racer? That is hilarious. I approve of the color coding and nicknaming as that's sometimes the only way I can identify characters, too.

I would love for a sensitive prince to play the drums. I love drummers. And it totally makes sense that Akira is the pink one because of his mother. Soujiro being a whiz with computer is strange but workable, more than Domyouji being a car racer.

Where are you watching it? I might be tempted to inflict this on one of my friends...

Oh, this is random, but when I was in Tokyo on Monday, I saw lots of ads for the Korean Boys Over Flowers all over Shibuya station.

Hana Yori Dango: you can't kill it, you can only spin it off.

I'm sure the other Asian/Pacific Islander nations will want to market their own versions soon enough.

My kryptonite is bassists, and then drummers come a close second.

Domyouji is a professional car racer who breaks out of the hospital so he can sneak out to a car dealer showroom to pick up his luxurious, custom made....SUV. I guess a Porsche or a Ferrari is too gauche evil capitalistic American. Or, er, European.

I kind of hope that they keep up the color coding for the rest of the episodes, so I can just keep on using Pink Ranger.

Though! Akin to nothing - when I get back to watching Vampire Boy, the pervy older vampire? I have decided on calling him Count Bad Touch!

I downloaded it off one of the multitudes of asian communities I'm apart of, I'll get back to you when I remember which one.

I've been seeing the ads for the dvd sets in my j-magazines.
