I'm being babysat. How thrilling.

[You can tell from her tone that it's about the last thing she wants. She goes quiet and all that can be heard is the distant murmur of many voices talking in the background, followed by a petulant sigh.]

I'm sure Lord Fanny won't mind if I stopped in for a bit of tea.

I don't know if ya know him or not.

[Martha quickly puts the biscuits out on the table as a way to buy herself some time. She hasn't actually told anyone other than Tosh that she was even considering this before and that conversation hadn't gone all that well.]

It's Severus Snape.

[Saffron runs the name through her mind for a moment. She's good with remembering people-it comes in handy for her trade. When she lands on Snape, her eyebrow instantly arches.]

Ah, I know who that is. An older man, huh? Nice catch.

[She keeps her tone light and conversational so that Martha knows her words are sincere. She points to the other woman with what's left of her cookie with a mock accusatory look on her face.]

So, young lady. How long has this been going on for?

[For a moment, Martha considering mentioning how much younger Snape was than her last boyfriend, but she quickly decided against it. Instead she just smiled and shrugged.]

I've always had a thing for older men, I suppose.

[And then when the question was asked how long this had been going on for, Martha shrugged.] He'd been my friend for a very long time before anything happened, and then there was a flood..

So it's been happening both a very long time and a very short time, I suppose. It's hard to define.

[Saffron listens as any good friend would, nodding while Martha speaks and breaking eye contact only to take a nibble at the cookie in her hand.]

I guess if you feel good with him, you don't need to define it. [A smile.] I'm happy for you.

Thank you. I'm feeling good and awkward with it, which is pretty standard for me, I think.

[A quick grin and she picked up a biscuit as well, dunking it into her cup of tea.]

So, how's things been for you, other than feeling a bit confined?

I can't complain, I guess.

[Saffron gives an airy shrug and leans back in her seat, fluffing out her hair idly.]

Keeping out of trouble. You know.

[It's a downright lie, and the laugh she punctuates her words with would tell Martha as much.]
