World Book Day

Look! I was a huge liar when I said I didn't post poems. I am posting a poem! Mainly because it is World Book Day and this one is about books. Listen if you like. Don't be completely fooled by the name: it contains one swear. Just before you go letting your children listen.

Here are the words, as I know some people like to read instead of listen ( Read more... )

"For when we become full grown man
We cannot see the lion anymore"

It's so important to remember that...so easy for the magic to disappear and get choked away by the real world.
I love this poem! I love all the references and all the memories it brings back (some a lot older than others).

Thank you for the feedback. I read so much to people in person that I sometimes lose confidence in my written work so it's really something for me to find out that lines I've written because feeling that way touches ME... touch other people as well. I loved putting all the references in! In fact, when I started it was really just going to be the references in more of a list, but then the part about me as a child and dreaming sort of... appeared from nowhere!

I'm normally a reader not a listener, but I'm so glad I listened! I really fucking love this ♥

Yay! I always say you know a compliment is a compliment when there's a 'fuck' in there! Thank you, that means a lot as I know we have similar connections to books and music. Not the same books and music of course, but similar instances of emotional responses and I would definitely say that books and music saved me at points.

haha yes, I never thought of it that way but actually it's true - "fuck" does tend to accompany a really good compliment!

And you're welcome :)
