Toda will play a cheerful and lively English teacher at a senior high school who is about to get married to her long-time boyfriend and fellow teacher played by Miura. Both of them have been classmates during their senior high school and university days and eventually became a couple that recently decided to get married someday soon. She loves her ( Read more... )

OMG WHAT.

I was like...it can't be that bad until I got the end of the first paragraph. I hate it already too!!! WHY?! I'm upset for the same reasons you are, DUMBEST PLOT EVER. I CAN'T BELIEVE MIURA IS A) A TEACHER B) CHEATING ON TODA ERIKA.

I am so angry!! Maybe it's a joke??

ANGER IS MY PREDOMINANT FEELING RIGHT NOW. I hope, but sadly I'm pretty sure it's not a joke. AGAIN, ANGER.

B) CHEATING ON TODA ERIKA.

No joke, man. I don't even have words for this bs.

...I was with it until "HE ONLY CHEATED ON HIS FIANCEE WITH AN UNDERAGE STUDENT TO HELP HER." What the fuck ever, Japan.

I KNOW. The only thing that makes me remotely want to watch this besides to look at Erika is to know how they're going to make that a sympathetic reason for a teacher to cheat on their fiancee with a 15 yr old. It's going to be a trainwreck.

Seriously. Cheating on his fiancee? Okay, I've seen worse. Inappropriate relationship with a student? I watch dramas for that. But trying to make his unfaithful cradlerobbing a NOBLE THING? What the fuck?

he'll impregnate somebody in this, I can feel it calixa November 18 2010, 01:08:28 UTC
There better be hardcore comeuppance and a hot other guy for Erika to make up for this.

yet another getsu 9 i won't be watching calledinvain November 18 2010, 01:13:16 UTC
the entire premise sounds more suited for a midnight cable show than a getsu, really. I guess they are desperate to prop up the mythical golden hour with sensationalism and bad writing. Somehow Japan keeps Asano Taeko employed, so I have no idea why they went this way.

*shrug*

You should watch Marry Me Mary! (Mary Stays Out All Night) It's really cute and no one is very stupid in it and there are scarves.

*shakes head wisely*

I'M SO ANGRY ABOUT IT AND IDK WHY. Probably because it's two actors I adore and THIS IS THE CRAP THEY GIVE THEM TO WORK WITH. CAPSLOCK HATE FOREVER.

I do plan to watch Mary, but I will wait for more subs first. I tend to lose interest in dramas if I have to wait in between episodes...

I like both Erika Toda and Muira Haruma and had my interest piqued seeing they're starring in a drama together, but I draw the line at teacher/student romances (which I think comes from being both a teacher's kid and a teacher). *sigh* Maybe they're do another drama together in a few years...

I really don't like teacher/student romances either, that is only one of many of my objections towards this drama.

WAAAAH!!! I can't believe Miura is in a drama with such a horrible premise. I now need to pour bleach on my brain...

Age gaps, fine, but I'm so not down with the teacher/student thing...

And to clarify...age gaps are fine WHEN CHILDREN ARE NOT INVOLVED.

Ugh. Am now thinking of a teacher whom I have zero respect for... (though, technically, he did not "date" the senior until she had graduated. Still Very Not Cool.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said. I'm hoping the synopsis is preliminary or badly translated or there's some kind of twist because otherwise this is going to be pure trainwreck.

Agreed.

I'm getting back into My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, btw - not one of the Hong Sisters' finest, but some unexpectedly AMAZING acting turned up from the entire cast beginning in episode 13. I've enjoyed all of them in other dramas, but never felt the urge to jawdrop at their acting skillz. The three main leads cranked it up about ten notches, and I'm now eager to finish watching...

For fluff? Totally worth watching, but it's just sickeningly sweet at times. (But hilarious, too)
