If you think the company is in any danger of a meltdown, start looking *now* - things are going to get a lot worse in your country before they get better. We haven't gotten to the bottom of the credit default swap mess yet. Anyhow, I expect the job market to be a mess. The best things to do for the next little while are either to hunker down and make sure they *can't* fire you, get a good job and root there if you can, or go back to school if you can get financing for it.
(Alternately, move to Canada. We're not entirely immune but we seem to have better regulations!)
I can't change jobs right now. I just had surgery and need to have my follow up appointment in case anything went wrong. We don't have universal health care down here. So I'm kinda stuck till that's all squared away.
At the moment I'm going to "hunker" down and then probably start scouting out some opportunities with some of the big companies around here. School's a possibility if I get laid off, but it's still kind of a waste of my money right now. I'd love to get my degree eventually, but I lack the motivation to stick to it. Thanks for the advice and support btw. =) You never responded to my last e-mail, I sent you one, then you replied and I replied but never got one back.
