Check to see what instructions are on your batting. If it were me I would put some sort of quilting in the border. This piece will get heavy use. You could always use one of the decorative stitches that the machine will do in the border. Try a few samples and see if you like the look.

Not all machines have the ability to drop the feed dogs and some do but don't have a stitch regulator - like mine - ARGH!

You could always draw a design on tracing paper and stitch along the lines.

I just found my switch to drop mine a month ago. Well, 'found' it by asking deanae - "What's this do?"

Mine was hiding behind the little compartment that keeps my bobbins and feet and stuff stored.
