Yay! You finally read it! Like I said in my email, did you pick up that Irial and Niall had been involved in the past? For some reason I totally didn't pick up on it, but Marr in her blog one day came right out and said that Niall's bisexual. I was like, "Ohhhhh. So that explains a lot." D'oh!
I think you hit the nail on the head as to why it's hard to compare WL and IE--the types of conflict are so different. This one, I think, resonated much more with me than WL (for obvious reasons), but I think it's amazing how Marr creates such strong heroines. The issue of choice seems to be a common thread thus far, so I'm curious to see if that carries over to her next book.
And I agree--if I had a daughter, I would have absolutely no problem with her reading these books.
Mmm... I've not read the review in full, but I did want to say that it's made me want to pick up Marr's work. I read the descriptions on Amazon and wasn't wowed too much. (Actually, I'd say the issue is that I'm wary of urban fantasy.) But the non-spoilery parts of your review? Yes, please. Those made me want to pick up these books. ^-^ Never mind my to read mountain is... well, a mountain.
Thanks so much, I really appreciate that. :) I would suggest starting with WICKED LOVELY since it's the first in the series, but if the non-spoilery parts of my review really make you want to read INK EXCHANGE first, I think you'll be fine reading that one on its own. :)
It does sound like this would stand alone, but be better if you read the first book, well, first. I'll see which I get my hands on first, so thanks for informing me that this does stand alone. ^-^ It'll make it easier to read if I find this one first. ^-^
