Hrmmm. I liked this series, but I didn't go into it looking for romance. Oddly enough, I seem to go into most books -not- looking for romance. If it's there and written well, that's fine, but usually, I find it to not being written well. That might also be the case because I tend toward military sci fi rather than sci fi romance

Understandable. And now that I have a better idea of what Moon's doing with this series, I'm more likely to pick up the later books to give them a go. Once my book pile decreases, that is... ;)
Have you read Ursula K. Le Guin's THE LEFT HAND OF DARKNESS? Not military SF by any means, but I do believe it's the first use of the ansible. I think she's the one who coined the term, but I could be wrong.

I haven't read Le Guin's book, but I have seen it around. I'll definitely look into reading it!
