Thanks for the review! In fact, I plan to write another story where the main character - and his wife, of course, who might actually be the main character in the next one - interact with the aliens much more intensely. Sounds like I'll have to check out Banks' book first to make sure I'm not working too closely to him... or maybe it would be best if I don't see it!

Oh cool, I'd love to see the story from the wife's POV. :) And I wouldn't worry too much about the Banks' book. Like I said, I just reaad the first page, and that and the cover was enough to imprint the notion on my brain. Maybe you can read it after? :)

I just read the first couple of reviews....I like short and sweet intros too and i also _always_ read them...Mike Resnick is awesome, he really is a master of the short story form. Pretty much everything he writes I like. Read more of him. :)

so, I am thinking of starting a short story community focusing on SF/F....would you be interested?
