Awesome. So the nomination rules basically apply to when it's published in the US, not elsewhere?

So basically, Jessie Lamb gets two years of eligibility by virtue of it being originally written in English outside of the US? One year of eligibility based on its UK publication date (2011) and one year of eligibility based on its US publication date (2012)?

Huh. Interesting. :) Thanks for the explanation! Have you read this?

It's primarily written in the first person, past tense, with some slips to present. I didn't notice a comma-splicing style in this book, but maybe you want to sample it to be sure before forking over any cash?

Bayou Moon's review goes up on Monday. :)

Will definitely have to pick this one up. I love The Handmaid's Tale, Children of Men, AND Never Let Me Go, so I can see this working for me. Thanks for the heads up!

So glad you liked this! It was definitely a pleasant surprise to me (I hadn't known much about it before reading it) and would be happy to see it on the ballot for the Hugo.

You can always buy a supporting membership for 2013, and nominate it too! If you buy early enough, you'll get to nominate for 2013, vote for 2013, and then nominate for 2014!

I had in some ways a similar reaction to the book (my review here: http://tethyanbooks.blogspot.ch/2012/08/review-testament-of-jessie-lamb-by-jane.html... )

I've only read Embassytown and I had issues with that book, despite its potential. :)
