1) Etienne found a loophole that allowed him to bring the mother of his child to live in Faery and work in the human world. Wonder why Amandine couldn't do the same for Toby's father? Was it because he did not suspect that Amandine was not human?
(and I am totally blanking out on all the other things I wanted to say. Argh.)
I wonder if Amandine didn't care enough for Toby's father to try? Amandine, in and of herself, is still a mystery, despite what we've learned. There's still some major reveals coming from Toby's family tree, me thinks...
This is one of those series where I reread all the books prior to the newest one's release. I adore it. And yes, I put down Ashes and literally danced around the room thrilled. YAY!
And by Joss Whedon, you mean kill a beloved character? :) Because we both know the author doesn't pull her punches in that regard. :) One should constantly be worried for her characters' safety and lives!
Just finished! This series keeps improving with every new book and I'm thrilled by the prospect that McGuire has four other books in store (at least) for us! Of course this is the book where what many of us were expecting happens :-) balancing out nicely the too-swift appearance of a certain rose goblin. We missed you, Spike!
I love the good mixture of fun and drama that the author manages in her writing, and I took note of an example that says it all: Some pains get better with exposure, familiarity breeding a sort of physical contempt. One of the reasons Toby finds so many admirers comes IMHO from this balance between badass heroine and common person, someone the readers can connect with and care for.
I'm guessing the next installment will be out roughly a year from now. At least there will be a new InCryptid novel to keep us entertained in March (I believe)!

I love it, loved it, loved it. For me, it gets the "My Precious" status. Can't wait for the next book! (11 more months. I can do it, I can do it...)
Oh, and what's the policy on spoilers in comments? I want to bring some things up, but I don't want to spoil anybody's reading experience.
