Ah, yes, it is there, but it's a PDF, and I don't relish reading 50 or so pages on my computer monitor. Also Blackout reveals what the alternate ending is, so I'm not quite as anxious to find out. :)
I read Fed on my laptop monitor and found it actually wasn't too bad to read. It's a very interesting different spin on how things went down at the end of Feed and well worth reading. You get to the end and find yourself thinking "Phew, thank goodness that one little thing went they way it did in Feed, and not this way."
I enjoyed the California Browncoats short.
I also read the Box and that one confused me. I got the first half of the plan, but the second part and the arrival of the box left me confused, although I was reading it while I had the flu, which probably didn't help. If you understood it, is there some way you can explain it to me safely without spoiling anyone else?
My understanding, and the story is a little confusing in this regard, is that there were two viruses: the first was the one the Group was immune to. The second virus was much worse than the first, but I think if you were immune to the first, you'd be immune to the second. I think the Box had the cure to the second or at least the making of, but the catch was that by distributing said cure, the people immune to the first would die.
Or something. It's been a few weeks since I read the story, and I'm a wee bit tipsy this evening. :)
As long as you read Feed first, you're in good shape to read the two novellas. However, if you want publication order, then I'd suggest:
Feed Deadline Countdown Blackout San Diego 2014: The Last Stand of the California Browncoats
Though technically, Countdown was broken up and originally released on Grant's blog as teasers leading up to the publication of Deadline. Does that help?

When should I look into reading Countdown? I don't want to spoil anything, but I don't know where it fits in.
