YAY, I hoped you would like this one, and as it was the one that got me into the series, it is a special book for me.

FYI this is the cover copy on the book I read back in the day :)

And I like the poetry that runs through the series, but is very strong in this book. I still remember most of it.....

I saw that cover on my image search on Google. It rather creeps me out. :)

After Dark is Rising, this is my next favorite in the series...and one of my all time favorite books. :)

I am glad you are enjoying them. :)

This is my favorite one of the series! I like how it's more - I guess muted is the word I'm looking for. It's not dramatic, but it's still compelling.

Compelling is a great description of this book!

Oooh, I see what you mean - it's very compelling, and I actually would use the word dramatic - hey, it's about Gwenevere's lovechild and ancient magic forces and a dog! But you made me realise that when I get mental images from the book they are almost entirely in greyscale. Even over the colour. Muted prose maybe?

The Dark Is Rising started out being my favourite from this series, but I never reread it much, whereas The Grey King and Silver on the Tree were constant rereads. I like Bran best, then Will, even though I hated it when Old Ones messed with people's memories.

This book got me into Welsh, which although I never learned, I learned roughly how to pronounce. :)

I found myself glad that I had the whole series on hand to read, and that I didn't start out with The Dark is Rising. I'm not sure I would have continued if I had.

This one is my favorite so far (haven't read the last one yet). I did really like how the Arthurian legend came into play here.

I also like how the character of Guinivere appeared--it was actually a very sympathetic portrayal. It seems like she's usually villainized, so this was a nice change.

Absolutely!

I'm reading the last one now, so we'll see how it goes!
