I was really happy with this one as Blameless, imo, wasn't quite as strong as the first two, but Heartless really brought it all back to its delectably top-notch form. I love all the characters..and the writing! Hilarious!
I didn't think the Prudence revelation was all that surprising: what she does (or seems to do) sounded about what I seemed to get the impression she'd do when what a Soul Stealer does came up in Blameless (as in, rather than blanking out a supernatural's powers, the way Alexia does, she appears to co-opt them to herself. What I want to know is whether this, also, renders her target normal...and whether this is actually useful, though the people who prayed to Soul Stealers in the past certainly thought it was. I don't know how useful that sounds if she has to be on contact with her target--what's the good of being able to turn into a werewolf if you can only do it while you're actively touching one?)
I got a kick out of this. And Biffy keeps breaking my poor heart. The whole line about how he had to accept that he "had to give up his love, or else lose his remaining choices" just about did me in, right there.
