This looks like my type of book, and I don't mind the fact that it's skewed kind of young (I still read kids books after all). Thanks for the review. I've been curious about this one.
I've been curious about this book since its release, but haven't had time to get to it because of the ridiculous TBR.
I completely agree with on the issue of the cover; I find the first cover very pretty, but it's absolutely infuriating that it's white-washed. I seriously don't know where publishers get the gall to pull those kinds of stunts. We live in the 21st century for crying out loud.
I know, yet publishers keep doing it. It's such a shame, but it's good that bloggers take them to task for their decisions, because that makes them realize they can lose potential buyers!
That is a pretty cover, though she looks too much like a ballerina/little girl to me on the cover, which doesn't mesh well with how I picture the heroine. :)

I definitely thought the book was young, too. Also a bit limited in vision, maybe? Maybe it was a result of the book's isolated world or the protagonist's naivete, but it felt to me like nothing meant very much in the overall scheme of things.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this book was a wee bit young. I can see what you mean about being limited in vision. I bet a second book would make the events of the first book mean more, you know?
