Thank you for the review. I've only ever read Old Man's War by John Scalzi, and I really enjoyed that one. However, I'm not a big fan of body humor. I guess I'll probably read the rest of his Old Man's War novels, and then pick up this one if I'm still interested in seeing his early work.
That's a good plan. The OMW series is really good, with the second being the weakest in the series, IMHO. But not that weak, you know? The final installment, Zoe's Tale, is just excellent.
There's also The Android's Dream, which is unrelated to OMW and Agent to the Stars.
And as far as body humor goes, I do think you'll be okay, but I agree you should probably finish the OMW series first to see if you're interested in more of Scalzi's work.
I actually found Scalzi's blog first, when somebody linked to his "Being Poor" essay. Then I read the free version of "Agent to the Stars," and after that kept my eyes open for his books. I find his books very enjoyable reading, but they tend to fall into "like, not love" category for me.
