Interesting! I will have to check this out. I'm fascinated by Luthor as a character.
As much as I love the Bat-verse (Alfred, Barbara Gordon, Gotham PD, Dick Grayson, the rogues at Arkham) over the Supes-verse (I honestly think most of the Daily Planet peeps are obnoxious), I have the opposite feelings for the superheroes themselves.
I love Clark and what he stands for, and I used to unabashedly love Bruce Wayne from the cartoons and such. But after getting into the comics, I realize that as much as I love everything and everyone that surrounds him I really dislike Wayne himself. Primarily for his obsessive need to exert control over every single person in his life.
Weird how it took actually reading the comics to make me dislike Batman. :)
How fascinating. I've not read a whole lot of the comics, so my Bat-verse knowledge comes from the movies and the animated television series from the nineties. :) Of course, I have read SOME Bat-verse comics, but it was so long ago I barely remember them, and I plan on re-reading them soon. In fact, I hope to post a review for The Killing Joke tomorrow!
I think most people treat Batman as another action hero, and forget that he's supposed to be a little cracked in the head.
I remember a bit in a cartoon when Superman threatened to punch a criminal if he didn't answer a question, but the criminal refused. So Batman took over, held the criminal over a ledge from a high building, and the criminal answered all his questions. As Batman walked away, Superman asked the Flash (I think) "How does he do that?"
I wanted to tell Superman, "Because the Batman WANTS to drop the guy, and you don't, and they know it." But that would have been a little too dark for a cartoon show.
