Some parts of the 20s were actually full of drugs and sex and young people trying to be profane. I'm not done with Bloodshot yet (which leads me to think it's not as good a book as the Eden Moore or Clockwork Century books) and I have reservations about Raylene's voice too, but it might be possible.
When do we get to the drag queen, anyway? I was looking forward to that & I'm like 100 pages in and there's no glbt-ness.
Re: the twenties, that may be, but I'd still think the language, even when profane, would have a less modern feel to the voice. I dunno. Either way, I'm not sold on Raylene's voice or her as a 80+ year-old vampire. :)
I'm not sure how soon you get to the drag queen. I read mine on a Kindle, so I have no way of measuring!
