I ordered this book during the BookCloseouts Black Friday sale for $1.99, after seeing TJ's review. Even though I hoped for a better rating, I am happy with what you have to say about it. I'm feeling for a fun light read and I like that you said it's unconventional. Can't go wrong for $2, right? ;)

That's the copy I wish I ordered!

Humor is so weird for me. There'a lot of great things the book has to offer, but it simply didn't resonate. I'll look forward to your thoughts!

As much as I love vampires, this doesn't sound like my kind of book.

In general, I describe myself as a "tomboy," and my reading selections tend to fit with that assessment. I find romance really difficult to get into.

It's not romance so much as there's lust, and lots of it. Still not saying it's your kind of thing, mind you. :)

Yeah, I think I dislike lust more than I dislike romance, actually.

*laughs*

I'm not the best person to describe this book. The author actually comments to this post, if you're interested in what she says. It's the anonymous remark. And in truth, it's unfair to categorize this as lust or romance, even though both play a part in subplots. :)

My copy just arrived today! I'm really eager to start this one, especially after seeing how different you and TJ felt about it. :)

Hi, S.S, thanks for taking the time to read my book and write a thoughtful review. I'm a little crushed that your assessment is "give it away" but well... I just wanted to mention that this book is a comedy-of-manners, not a romance, so humor and social satire drive the plot. (Don't get me started on book covers, which is a fight that I've always lost with my publisher. All I will say is, they practically put dancing jalapenos on the covers ( ... )
