Nice review. Reading it really makes me want to read more Butler!

Looking forward to next month's selection as well. Really in the mood to read some sci-fi

Looking forward to reading more of your Butler reviews! I've not read FLEDGLING yet, but it's on the list. I may put it in a book club theme. :)

BTW, don't forget to vote in the poll, especially since you read the book. :)

Unfortunately, my copy didn't arrive in time for this review! It's on its way, but could take another week to get here. I'm reading it, though, just a little late. ;) (I'll also read your review then!)

Once you post your review, I'll add it to this list!

Do you have copies of the upcoming challenges? :)

I have To Say Nothing of the Dog, but not the April title, Alchemy of Stone. Not yet at least! :)

this was my first Butler book, so i can't comment to some of the things you mention in comparison to her other works. that being said, i wonder what would be the best book of hers to pick up next.

after reading your review, i think i'm going to have to go mull a bit and come back to comment more thoughtfully. :)

for now, my review is HERE.

and i found a really interesting author interview regarding Kindred, that is posted HERE.

When did you originally read KINDRED? How often have you read it since?

I haven't read it (yet) because all my book allowance has gone to other books I've also been interested in. (If you're curious: two draw on Native American mythology, which I have a soft spot for, and the third was illustrated by a friend.)

Kindred remains on my wishlist for books to read eventually, though. ^-^ What I've read of your review certain helps me remember why it's on there. And it's really, really good to hear that it makes a good introduction to Butler's work. New-to-me authors with multiple books published are always a little intimidating because where do you start?!

I'll get to it, just... Too many books out there. T-T (I wish our library had a decent selection of English books. That would help.)
