Carey has already finished the sequel and is editing it per her last update on her web page. It'll come out next year.

I loved War for the Oaks and Pump Six. Emissaries From the Dead sounds really cool. I'll have to look for it.

It's a little bumpy in its opening but it's a very good book. I snatched up the sequel ASAP.

Agreed on the Barzak. It's magnificent. It also featured in my Top 10.

It's very different from yours, but I have to say that you reviews have got me hankering for certain writers. Indigo Springs and Exit Strategy look very interesting. So does Santa Olivia. I own a copy of War of the Oaks, and I've got Liar on my must buy list for this year.

I really want to read Santa Olivia. I may have to just suck it up and buy it through amazon. I also can't wait to read Liar. I've got it on reserve at the library. Now I'm just waiting for it to be returned.

I just had a good look at all the books I read in 2009, and one of my absolute favorites was Rosa and the Veil of Gold, which I picked up after reading your review. So I definitely owe you thanks for that one!

I absolutely LOVED The Veil of Gold (US title, which I personally prefer, but that's me). So glad you enjoyed it!

I've LOVED the Kushiel books and have been meaning to try some of Carey's other work, even though I know it's quite different. Glad to hear you recommend it!
