oh, i can imagine you've hated the wait - it's less than a year for me, and i was almost foaming at the mouth!
i'm a BIG Urban Fantasy fan [i only love Sci-fi more. and it's REAL close] but this was... this was something OTHER. i mean, yes, it was UF, and it followed sci-fi conventions [dude - i keep telling people that Magic Done Right *IS* a science!], but it went beyond everything.
sigh. perfection is unattainable, of course, but this came DAMNED close! except for not enough Jackson :D
[see! THIS is why i stick around - all these lovely, lovely books i'd never have even HEARD of, without you! i'm so glad the Ammonite discussion is almost here! that was wonderful, too!]
I tried to read this but couldn't get past the first two chapters. I'll try to give it another try though. I loved the cover and really wanted to like it!
I think one of the trickiest things about this book is how the chapters alternate between the past (written in past tense) and the present (written in present tense). It's very jarring at first, but once you get in the rhythm of it, I think it flies! :) Hope you get around to giving this another shot!
This one did take me a few chapters to get into before I fell into the rhythm of it. But not being a fantasy fan isn't much of a bad thing. I am curious though, since you mention favorites, what are your favorite fantasies?
