Ahhh. I found it a fun series. I have to take my gleeful moments where I can get it so the moment that stands out the most for me in a positive way is when Ky comms the ISC commander and the commander comments that his ships would only hold hers back. That's probably the culmination of all of Ky's hard work in setting up a military organization and getting it to work in unison. It's particularly great because I remember in an earlier book, Rafe was negotiating with the Mackenese and said something to the effect that while Ky was very formidable, she doesn't have a fleet for force projection. After the struggle on whether to accept the Mackenese offer to become a captain in their forces, she gets vindicated and really does get a fleet ( ... )

I haven't read the Bujold, but I did love seeing Ky's growth and determination and her ability to get what she wants and what she needs to defeat the enemy. That was definitely satisfying. There's a lot of really good stuff that Moon does in this series from a technical standpoint, and I may decide to write up a post about it one day, but not too soon. I think people are tired of hearing about these books! :)

And yeah, the romance. I would've thought that absence might've made the heart grow fonder, but not THAT kind of fonder, you know? Oh well. It's sweet and I don't mind it TOO much. It was just very jarring and sudden.
