I think I love dystopian stuff even more now. I have even downloaded books I hadn’t read since elementary school and enjoyed them. I have enjoyed some of the Latin American magic realists in the past but somehow it doesn’t work for me outside of that context. My writing is almost exclusively research papers and briefs, so I have no advice.

I think magic realism can be a tricky business. I know that Jorge Luis Borges cornered that market a lot, but I really liked Angela Carter's 'Nights At the Circus', which bordered on the MR genre.

What kind of research paper etc?

The research papers are mostly for my own amusement on various medieval history topics.
