I have had migraines since I was 15 years old.  I get light and sound sensitivity and the aura/distorted vision - I can look at the sky or the tarmac and they both look like a seething mass.  Sometimes I get tunnel vision, plus nausea and if not treated, pain.  My ability to speak shuts down, too - so when people just say it's a bad headache, they

My son used to get them when he was little. It took years (I think he was about 9) before he could speak and tell us just how bad it hurt. We worked really hard on medicating as soon as he could feel it starting to hit. Eventually, he outgrew most of it, thank goodness. I don't know how you manage it for years on end.

I had them once a month until my thirties, then they faded away. They resurfaced in my forties and can have a couple a week. Not good :-/
