Did kitty come from a shelter? If she did, that might be why she's rushing - she hasn't yet figured out that she doesn't have to compete with other cats for food.

Stevie still has some problems with this. He's fine as long as the food dish is full (well, he's a fat kitty, but he won't eat to the point of making himself sick), but if it has nothing in it then he panics, and starts eating things that aren't food. -_- He had a bit of a rough time the first few months of his life and he's never really gotten over it.

She did indeed! I figured that might be the reason, but she hadn't done it for quite some time. I'm also suspecting she might have been the runt of the litter, so you're probably right about that.

Oh no, Stevie ;_; Poor fellow!

A lot of cats get over it on their own once they're settled into their homes - especially if they're only cats and don't have to share their bowls with other furheads. I hope she slows down on her own, or that you find a bowl for her that'll help.

Stevieboo. ♥ He's hands-down the most loving kitty I've ever known - I've never seen him hiss and he's never bitten or scratched anyone, plus he purrs as soon as you look at him - but he's going to have some issues for the rest of his life. As long as I'm the only one home he's relaxed, but loud noises and/or the doorbell and/or having anyone else in the house beside me = beeline for under the bed.

Try putting some big rocks/stones in the dish. Smooth ones, like riverbed stones. She'll have to eat around them and it'll slow her down a little, hopefully.

Oh, that's a good idea! I've been putting a shotglass upside-down in the bowl, but she just moves the darn thing (how even!?) out of the bowl and continues on her way. I'll have to give that a try, thanks~
