Apparently it can't be fixed and my options are buy a new handset, buy out my contract so I can upgrade, or buy an unlocked phone (or unlock one myself). :/ I don't know what to do.

*hug* If you like your contract, then just get a new handset. If you don't, look at this as an opportunity to shop for a new phone and new contract. That is, if you have the money to buy out the contract.
