Ah Smallville. The Clana is dead. Long live the...Clark/Lois? Clark/Oliver? The lack of Lana Lang? Didn't really think that statement through.

I like your review! It was very good. :)

Which all works for me mostly because here's the thing: I actually agree with what Oliver did. Lex had proven himself to be a man incapable of reform and a man who functioned outside the law. He was never going to be stopped and he was never going to be punished.

I don't like that Ollie has become a murderer ... crossed that fine line. But I've been thinking and thinking. If he had brought Lex to justice, had turned him in, he risked Lex blurting out Clark's secret to everyone. I think he thought the only way he could protect Clark was to take Lex out of the picture. I am not condoning his actions but there may have really been no other choice.

Plus, it's kinda obvious that Lex isn't dead. It's not that easy and he's Lex freaking Luthor. He'll be bothering Superman for a long time. :\

I totally agree with you on your assessment of Lana.

The ending scene was really sold by both actors. Clana was never going to receive a mature ending because it wasn't a mature relationship, so it doesn't ( ... )

Thank you!

I think that too, that part of it was protecting Clark's secret, but Lex is also going around committing mass murder - blowing up the conference room (which felt so long ago by the end, maybe if Hartley had looked a little more like he'd almost been blown up it would have been harder to forget) - and seems incapable of being moved. He can't move or, it looked like, preform basic bodily functions but he can still kill people and he can still built a 'I'm a crazy person!' suit ( ... )

He probably isn't dead yet. I imagine that's why they had him all covered up with stuff, to leave it open for them to have Rosenbaum return at some stage in the future. Plus, until they have a body and heard nothing from him for five years, I say he's still around somewhere. Either that, or he has a clone running around somewhere. Remember Lana's "death" at the end of Season 6?

I didn't like it much but I've liked the rest of the season (mostly) a lot, so this soap opera throwback bothered me. :(

I agree about the actors. I was very impressed Kreuk, who I'm always overly impressed with, who actually convinced me of the enormity of the situation for Lana. Plus, she cried. Not wimpy, TV crying but sobbing. The kind of crying people do when they're breaking. Very impressive, I thought.
