Telly is amazing

I'm watching The Musketeers, purely for shallow reasons of sword-fighting and Capaldi and OMG CAPALDI. Turns out he is basically the RICHELIEU OF MY HEART except a bit more evil. But he is properly loyal to France and his foreign policy of making France the pre-eminent European power is there and also he is Capaldi and brilliant. Mostly my opinion ( Read more... )

I swear I've seen at least one movie critic comment that Orlando Bloom's problem is that he tries to be a serious actor, when he should be taking advantage of his great comic timing.

It is pretty amazing timing. I would totally go see any comedy on the strength of him being in it.

I've only seen one publicity still for Auntie Beeb's new musketeers series but I managed to identify all the musketeers correctly because their hats were all perfectly in character. I'm glad Richelieu is working for you. I imagine it's difficult to write the character for the screen, even if the production is blessed with an actor such as Capaldi who does scheming baddies perfectly.

HATS! They do have splendid hats! I don't know if I could confidently tell which was which based on that so I am therefore Well Impressed.

I feel weird about sympathizing with Richelieu because evil. Tell me it's normal.

TOTS NORMAL. He's doing it all, more or less, for what he sees as the good of France, and everyone actually is less competent than him so no wonder he gets a teeny bit tetchy on occasion. And he looks really hot and that makes everything okay when it's fiction, I assume.

Elementary is a thing of beauty and a joy forever. (Where are the new episodes, dammit!)

I still have a lovely piece of fanart of Trek's Moriarty on my den wall. (Yea, Daniel Davis!)

Daniel Davis was an EXCELLENT Moriarty. My favourite, in fact.
