Doctor Who: The Crimson Horror

Bloody hell, Mark Gatiss, BLOODY HELL. It is a bit like he had a list of all the things I judge about his eps and decided SOD IT I AM GOING TO PROVE YOU WRONG, RANDOM INTERNET PERSON. PS I SHALL BE DOING IT WHILE STICKING TO MY TRIED AND TESTED FORMULA OF PRETENDING I'M WRITING SEVENTIES WHO.

ALL OF THIS! ♥

ETA: 1 - No/very few women - Five main female characters in this ep, plus two minor ones.
Plus, all the men (bar the Doctor & the human doctor, who was mostly there for exposition - did he even get a name?) were there to be victims, or faint. I thought that a rather neat reversal. :)

I enjoyed the fainting very much; it was such a gender role reversal.

I enjoyed the hell out of this episode, which is genuinely not something I thought I'd ever say about a Gatiss episode. It's possible it's just my ridiculous love for Diana Rigg and the Paternoster Gang talking, but I don't care, because they were all put to great use here.

MORE LIKE THIS, PLEASE, MR. GATISS.

So much awesome in this episode. Jenny and Strax both got their time to shine. Strax wasn't as comic relief-y this time and actually got to do away with the villain. I would have liked to see Vastra do more as well.

The Doctor's attempt at a Yorkshire accent was pretty funny as well. 'Trouble down t'mill'.

Also, was I the only one thinking that the whole human mannequin thing was a little similar to Carry on Screaming. The only thing missing was the villain screaming 'FRYING TONIGHT!!'

That was somehow, despite being on paper a serious episode about serious issues, one of the most fun episodes there's been in ages. And you're spot on with all the Gatiss issues being blitzed. And the stiff-walking acting was terrible, but I think that was the point where I realised that this episode was going to be so silly I'd love it.
