Ah, sci-fi doing Westerns. The sort of thing I feel like I shouldn't like given the whole 'Western' aspect but, actually, The Gunfighters, Gunmen of the Apocalypse, Back To The Future 3, Spectre of the Gun: smashing. Not A Fistful of Datas though. That's shit.

I didn't have a problem with the Doctor kicking him over the line because I felt like it wasn't so much the doctor ~passing judgement~ on Jex as seeing the ways in which Jex was a reflection of him and maybe actually a better man--after all, Jex sacrificed the few to save the many, and the Doctor just killed them all--and was punishing Jex as a stand-in for punishing himself, idk?

I appreciate the depth of your thinkiness on this one!

I agree it would have helped the story a lot to know more about Jex's war. Overall I thought the actor playing Jex really helped sell him as both sympathetic and not sympathetic, as a complex person that you couldn't just write off one way or the other. It was a nuanced performance.

I like it when the show grapples with big moral questions, but I am SO OVER the Lonely God stuff. There are other ways to talk about ethics!

Lots of love for Back to the Future 3. That one's my favourite out of the three. This episode though... I found it kind of disappointing. Not quite so awesome as last week.
