... I never thought she was doing anything but making crap up to make the Doctor not break the universe with time travel. I mean, this is Evelyn - twice we've seen her make Six actually change the past to save individual, almost random lives. If this is about young love then it's so completely out of character that I don't know. That you can't make it a reason to hate her. It's just not her.

I loved this one by assuming that and then letting it slide by when he was all like "OH YOU ARE MORE SPECIALER" because he was terribly distraught and needed a cuddle, and to my knowledge Evelyn never went around trumping Six's true love for her or whatnot. But it is true that this one makes exceptionally good use of the fact of Evelyn's age and her unique circumstances. It's not my favorite Evelyn audio but it was very nice.

It requires handwaving, yes, which apparently isn't too hard because it's not even enough for me to hate on the rest of the audio or dismiss the whole thing as a horrible, horrible Did Not Happen. Possibly because I was utterly bemused as I listened to the end, finding it difficult to grasp that the writer thought this was or should be the message of the piece.

Yeah, there's not much of a way for this to not reflect badly on the writer rather than the characters... IIRC, Paul Sutton was responsible for another semi-criminal "EVELYN SO SPECIAL" moment in "Thicker Than Water" (right along with marrying her off to Rossiter. Makes ya think). Meh. It's bad enough when this is done with characters I tolerate - I really don't appreciate being hit with a stick to love a character I loved just fine when they weren't the end-all of companionhood.

But, yes, I can do without being told which characters I should like and, worse, which I should like best.

There's so many which are good and loads which are awesome though. Most of them, I think (though I know I'm hardly discerning) but two in a row that make me flail badly? NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.

The Harvest is so far solid though.

So here I am, lunch time and thinking "I can't read my flist, I've been away two days and have to work yet and I will just go forward this evening instead" and then I thought "well I will peek just at the first page of it" and then THERE IS A POST ABOUT HEX. Well done, you have improved my day many times over.

I feel for you with the badness, but NOW YOU HAVE HEX. And he IS Scouse and it is the most adorable Scouse accent EVER and he just gets better and better and that one's a very good intro and audio as a whole, too. There's some bits I didn't follow but it was great and there's the bit about thinking the TARDIS is a public toilet. The hilarity!

I watched an old episode of Never Mind The Buzzcocks the other day with him on and Simon Amstell was seriously mocking his calendar and to say that the pictures were homoerotic would be an understatement...

Oh dear. I may have to skip this one. Or at least turn it off before they have this conversation. Which I am going to believe was Evelyn trying to make Six feel better. And I will choose to believe that Six was trying to repair his relationship with Evelyn by flattering her immensely and make her feel better too. And maybe that will wash the bad taste out of my mouth.

I'd heard there was a You're The Best One Ever Especially Compared To Those Younger Girls Of Ankle-Twisting Screams somewhere and it made me disinclined to listen to more Six 'n' Evelyn for fear of being smacked in the face with it. Thank you, at least, for telling me which one I can avoid.

And yay, Hexness! Hex is goodness. Oooh, and you'll be at Faith Stealer soon and that's when C'rizz gets interesting. *puts in plug for own favorite Big Finish companion* He's not Scouse, but he is a proper alien, exoskeleton and all.

I've heard Eight audios up to The Next Life from back when they came out. I don't remember FS making C'Rizz more interesting to me back then, alas, but then I've completely changed my mind on other Eight stuff like Neverland (I'm quite meh about it now) and Seasons of Fear (OMG WHY DID I NOT LOVE IT BEFORE?) so possibly the foolish mist will be lifted from mine eyes.

Perhaps! But if it doesn't lift, I will not be sad for I know that I am irrationally batshit obsessed about him to the degree that other people might be about Hex or Brax and I cannot expect the rest of the world to overflow with the same degree of love. Though I can hope.
