Thank you! I am glad that everyone is enjoying this as much as they are. Thanks especially to toxic_apiaceae for helping me as much as she did. I stumped myself while I was trying to write this story. She is the best person in the world and she knows it! Love you!
Well, yes. This prompt WAS a bit harder than we both thought, huh? It's such a common word that you KNOW immediately there'll be stories about plays and acting and social cues... Finding something creative and different is hard.
I think, all things considered, you did good here, kiddo. You didn't just give us one idea; you presented several. And I really hope you make it on to the next round because this was a very clever way of working the prompt. I can't recall reading anything like this in the few months I've been on the Flame, so it definitely piqued my interest.
You know what's crazy? I was just thinking the other day that it would be cool if someone wrote a piece about the brainstorming involved in selecting an idea relevant to the topic. And voila!
This was a really fantastic exploration. I loved all the brief scenarios you offered. Each one sounds so interesting to me. But the coolest part is that we can all kind of put our imaginations to work and create our own stories from your cues.
Well, will you look at that. I am a mind reader! Thank you, but I do owe toxic some credit for helping me out with a couple kinks and ideas. I appreciate the comments.
