It's been a while, friends. I've been around, reading the internet, but I think my muse must have been doing Pilates or something for the last month or two

"2) Ben did not kill Penny last week. He tried to, but she and/or Desmond fought him off. Now Desmond knows that Penny won't be safe until Ben is dead, so he's gonna sail back to the Island to fight it out. They'll both die."
I watched it, what the hell did I miss to make you think he was going to kill Penny?
Remember (after the mercenary killed Alex) when Ben told Charles Widmore that he "changed the rules"? He meant (or maybe he actually said it, I don't remember) he was going to kill Widmore's daughter (Penny). That's why Widmore told Desmond to take Penny and stay in hiding.
So when he told Jack that he had to keep a promise to an "old friend", it seems likely that he was talking about his vow to kill Penny. And then we saw him on the phone by the water (Penny & Desmond were living on that boat, you'll recall), having clearly been in a fight.
So a lot of people think he had just tried to kill Penny (and we don't yet know the result).
but then why is kate all dramatic like, "NEVER ASK ME ABOUT HIM AGAIN" and why does she decide to go back to the island? She wouldn't have given up Aaron for Sawyer, and remember how when what'sherface hinted that kate would have to kill aaron she was all, "OMG NEVAR WHO DO YOU THINK I AM"...but maybe she killed Aaron. :O
Dude, why would she kill Aaron? I mean, we'll see I guess, but it doesn't strike me as likely. I think it's more probable that she just exaggerated her anguish about leaving him, because she's a drama queen.
Are you really mourning the loss of Charlotte? I've been waiting for her death since she first arrived on the island. Couldn't stand her, though I'm sure she's not truly gone.
