Arthur C. Clarke, 16th December 1917 - 19th March 2008

According to the Asimov-Clarke Treaty of Park Avenue, the best science-fiction writer in the world, and the second best science writer.  As well as being the last of the Big Three (Heinlein, Asimov, Clarke) left.

He did have a good run of life, but still.. end of an era, almost.

He was really the last link to the golden age of sci fi, and that's the reading that I loved when I was a kid. And he's gone.
