Sorry about the computer and the pain. :-( I feel you on all the above mentioned angst - I feel that way on a daily basis and I am trying like hell to figure out some way to be happier with where I'm at. If I figure out a way, I'll let you know, providing you do the same. You know what's really sad is that I feel guilty for feeling this way - like the ability to even worry about it is a luxury of 21st century bourgeousie (however you spell that). Thanks lit degree for making me feel guilty for EVERYTHING.
By the by, who teaches this monster class you are in? Is it English department or Anthropology?
Well, while it's important to remember that there are others suffering worse than you and you should be grateful for whatever good things you may have in your life, it's also important to remember that this doesn't mean that your pain doesn't matter, or that you should feel guilty for having it or for wanting it to end. People saying "Other people suffer worse, so snap out of it and stop complaining!" and its equivalents to those in situations like ours is a derailing tactic that trivializes our feelings and experiences, and is usually said by people much higher on the privilege scale than the people they're saying it to. /ranty tl;dr
So anyway, it really is okay to be unhappy with your life and want it to change. It's your experience, and you're entitled to feel any damn way you please about it. Haters to the left
