gah, online recipes, plus fun with fondant

The internet is chock full of people who can not, or refuse to, read recipes. I know I have bitched about this before, but by GOD why would you take a cake recipe, replace all the acids with bases, chuck a box of *something* in "because it was sitting in the cupboard", then give the recipe 1 star because the cake didn't rise and it tasted like ( Read more... )

I think I actually will. It's pretty cheap over here, as it's the default way of decorating a cake, as opposed to buttercream. However, next time I will buy the white version, and if I want color I'll try to do it myself. I really need some better dye, though. I only have the liquid kind, and the results are always a bit pale. Do you have any suggestions? I know there's a paste version that's supposed to be better. I'll pick some up the next time we're in the US.
