Mad Hatter Cake Pans

I'm looking at some mad hatter cake pans on Zulily and wondering for those that frequently make that style cake - would this make like easier or really not much different than shaving the shape yourself? I've never attempted one before and all I know is it can be a lot more challenging than you think to make a cake appear slanted.

I've never made one but i would think it would be easier if you had pans, simply because in my experience, frosting cut cake suuuucks. Yes, freezing it or doing a crumb coat helps, but ain't nobody got time fo' dat!

I have the pans and I used them once. It was easier to just bake one cake, instead of different size cakes, but I baked an extra layer for each tier to get the height I wanted. I cut the tops of the bottom tiers just as a precaution and I was very pleased with how the cake turned out. Here's picture
