Bonjour, mes amis! I do not know what came over me the last few days, but I'm glad it's over. Now let me get t' the point. I would like to go out. Maybe job hunting, maybe some drinkin', maybe some espionage? Anything, really. I'm rearin' t' go!

Not sick, I take it.

Drinking sounds good to me. And if we get into a tight spot we have to fight our way out of, I won't object. Two weeks is too long to be nice.

Mhm. I agree.

[Gambit pushes the door of the bar open and speaks with the bartender and he gives them seats and Jack Daniel's on the rocks to start off.]

Drink up, mon ami.

[Mello raises his glass to Remy and knocks it all back.]

That'll take the edge off.

Did I hear you say something about looking for work before?

[He does the same, including the 'knocks it all back' bit.]

You heard right. S'boring sittin' around with nothing to do, so I'd like to have a reason t' go out and do things...incentive, y'know? I'd go out and steal for boredom's sake, but that's no profit other than an adrenaline rush for a bit.

[He makes eye contact with the bartender and nods for more whiskey for the both of them.]

[Mello asks for a cigar each, too.]

I've been thinking about getting a job myself. Maybe in the Undercity, for the connections.

There's certain lines of work where a charming con man is always useful. [In the tone of a general observation, though it isn't.]

Th' Undercity would suite me best...Hm. Maybe I'll head down there an' advertise my services. Course--

[The whiskey and the cigars arrive pronto. Remy puts it to his mouth, touches the end with his fingertips and tastes the cigar.]

--Course, I've taken from so folks down there already, but it's not like they'd know that.

Their police force is stretched a little thin, heh.

[Mello carries a lighter, lately, and gets his cigar going before offering the lighter to Remy.]

Ah. No thank you, my friend.

[Remy's eyes flash and the end of the cigar begins to glow.]

My powers can be used for more than fancy explosions, mon ami.
[He puffs a bit on the cigar and sighs.]

Mm. You sure now how't pick'em.

Ah, so I see.

The Mafia's good for some matters of taste, not to mention the manpower and resources. [He grins, savoring the cigar.]

I'd imagine it would be. The sound of gettin' a job down there is getting more and more appealin', to be hones'.

[He takes the cigar away from his mouth and downs the whiskey again.]

One thing that drives me nuts about this place, though. There damn well ought to be the Family here. Or something like it. But organized crime's like Skull and Bones: you know it's got to exist, but no one talks about it.

But--by its very nature it's not suppose to be discussed, right? If I were a don of any kind, I'd not want my works t'be talked about out in th' world. Things like that should stay quiet, no?

Sure, but it was easy enough to listen in the right places in LA. Took me a year and a half from being brand-new to calling the shots. I ought to be able to do the same thing here.

Aha. So not even th' people that ought t' be talking aren't. Huh. That's quite the predicament. So you don't know how to get a job down there, then? How d'you plan on finding out, mon ami?

Might have to go legit, God forbid. [He smirks and takes a pull on his cigar.] Nah, this information blackout can't last forever. Next time that Informant pops up, I plan to have some words with him. That'll be a start.

I see, You think he'll willingly jus' give away information like that? I certainly hope so. You'll have to let me know when he comes back around so I can speak with him, too.
